The Boiler Checklist – 8 Best Boiler Brands to Buy 2022

When the time comes to get a new boiler installed at your home, you want to be as certain as you can that you’re getting the right one for you and your home. After all, it’s a significant investment, and you’ll be wanting to get the longest life possible out of it while also getting good value for your money.

There’s a bewildering number of options available, and while you can always count on getting the best advice from the team at A & D Plumbing Services, it doesn’t hurt to have a good idea of some of the leading brands on the market.

Worcester

Worcester Bosch is one of the most popular of all brands among both homeowners and heating engineers alike. It’s certainly a brand we often find ourselves recommending to our customers! They’re not just reliable, efficient and exceptionally well made, they also come with reassuringly long guarantees. They make a good range of models, so that whatever the size of your property and the demands you’re likely to make of your boiler, there’s bound to be something to suit.

Baxi

Baxi’s boilers are made in the UK and usually come in a bit cheaper than some of their rivals. That shouldn’t make you think that there’s a shortfall in quality, however, because Baxi is still a quality brand that we’d have no problem recommending. Probably its most popular model is the Baxi 800 Combi, which is small enough to fit into a kitchen cupboard, has a number of useful features and comes with a 10-year parts and labour warranty.

Vaillant

One of Vaillant’s best claims is that they pioneered combi boilers back in the day, but does that still make them a relevant manufacturer today? The simple answer is yes! They’re renowned for a combination of outstanding performance and low energy consumption, which translates into impressively low running costs. All that and these are some of the quietest boilers on the market as well.

Ideal

Ideal has been making boilers since 1906 and has been a leader in terms of technological development for much of that time. They have a record of exemplary customer service, including long warranties and are a Which? Approved Service under the Trusted Traders scheme, for their out-of-warranty servicing and repairs. All of which adds up to a reputation for reliability and a company you can trust.

Glow-worm

Efficient and reliable, Glow-worm boilers are a great choice for smaller houses where there’s a low-to-moderate demand for hot water and central heating. Given that, it’s no surprise to find Glow-worm at the lower end of the price bracket, but that’s no bad thing, because you’ll still be getting a well-made and reliable boiler. Glow-worm these days is part of the Vaillant Group.

Viessmann

Viessmann is a German company operating at the top end of the boiler market that is making impressive inroads into the British market. Their combi boilers are multiple winners of Which? Best Buy awards and are getting rave reviews from buyers for their superb performance, quiet operation and industry-leading technologies.

Alpha

As a relatively new entrant to the British boiler market, this may not be the name that will come first on many people’s list. Nevertheless, they’re more than worthy of consideration with their budget-friendly prices, impressive record of reliability and reassuring warranty period. Those claims are backed up by a glowing Trustpilot score of (at time of writing) 4.6, including 87% five-star reviews.

Grant

Unlike the above, Grant specialises in oil-fired rather than gas boilers. Their Vortex and VortexBlue oil-fired condensing boilers are not only award winners, they’ve also been endorsed by Energy Saving Trust, with many models coming with a 10-year guarantee when fitted by a G1 installer like A&D Plumbing Services. A modern oil-fired boiler can produce energy efficiencies of up to 94.5%, and result in lower fuel use, lower fuel bills and fewer greenhouse gases being released.

At A&D Plumbing Services, we’ll take the time to listen to your needs and assess your home before recommending what we think would be the best boiler for you. Our highly skilled and knowledgeable team of installers has extensive experience working on all the top makes, so whichever you choose, you can be confident that it will be fitted in a professional and safe way.
